You might be wondering, why does my blog have to be self hosted? Well, if you want to use a custom theme, install some sweet plug ins and make your blog “your own”, you can’t do that with wordpress.com as it doesn’t give you the ability to upload custom made themes. WordPress.org (self hosted) gives you a wide variety of options and if you want a successful brand and blog then follow the directions below to set one up!
Click Here and visit Siteground, this is where your blog will be hosting, it’s one of the less expensive but best hosting companies around. On the page that opens up click “Get Started” on the “StartUp” option.
On the page that opens up, fill out all of your information, choose the plan you want and submit your order.
Next, you will be directed to a page where you can add on your existing domain name or you can choose a new domain name, like the screenshot below, if you don’t have a domain name then choose “register a new domain name”.
Once you have chosen your domain name you will see options to set up your website, click on wordpress, then it will ask you to choose an email, username and password for your new wordpress account.
Click Confirm once you are done and you will be directed to the next page, Click on “Complete Set Up”.
That’s it! Your new wordpress site is now set up! You can now login by going to yourdomain.com/wp-admin (replace yourdomain.com with your website address.)
Your login information will be whatever you submitted on the page when you set up your website.
Already have a domain name?
If you already owned a domain name and chose the “I already have a domain option”, Click the “Live Chat” button on siteground at the top of the page, let them know you have a domain name and let them know where you bought it. Ask them how to connect your current domain name to your new hosting account that you just set up and they should walk you through it.
